[Amazon.ca] Two pack of Fire 10 Kids Pro tablets $399.98

Was looking for a tablet for my kids and found Amazon selling a two pack basically amounting to $60 off each tablet.

They also have the Fire 8 Kids tablets as a two pack as well:

To add to this, I'll share my experience.

I've had a FIre 8 HD kids tablet for over a year now. I continued paying for the 'Kids Freetime Unlimited' because it shows how much they have been using it, and it was a lot. However the tablet slows down very easily, and there's no easy way to get something like youtube on there. Also of course you're missing out on LTE for when you go out, and connecting to a mobile hotspot is a pain, because you need to switch to your account (IE. not kids account), and it's so slow that you really need to connect for it before you start driving anywhere or you'll need to pull over.

I recently got a tablet from Freedom mobile (Samsung tablet, it's free I just pay 10$/month for like 1gig of data) so that comes out to like 300$ after 2 years which is fine by me, and the tablet is much quicker, full featured and has data for on-the-go.

Overall, I don't think the Amazon fire tablet is that good. My kids never want to use it, especially due to lack of youtube, but often times they get frustrated with how slow it is. So now it just collects dust. And without the kids freetime unlimited, the functionality seems to be even less.

I think the utility depends on your kids' age. My daughter is going on 5 and the 7" Kids Edition has served her well for the last year and a half. I personally find it slow, but she doesn't seem to mind especially since she typically doesn't flip through apps regularly. Once a game or video is loaded, performance is fine. My only annoyance is that SD storage is inaccessible from the kids profile. So when downloading videos for offline viewing, you're limited by whatever built-in storage you have available.

You also get 2 years of no-questions-asked replacement. She somehow managed to crack the screen after 8 months and replacement was painless.

Just sideload playstore and use it as an android tablet, you lose out on the kids features but I personally don't find them useful. It's pretty weak compared to an iPad but it's also a fraction of the price so it won't really matter if the kids drop it and abuse it. I would say works for younger kids but for older kids I would get something more solid.

i purchased these for my 4 and 6 year old and they love them. ya, they are slow but they dont care and i dont have to worry about what shes downloading because its all "free" with the paid service. free 2 year protection plan is awesome, im not worried about them holding my 1000$ phone or 500$ tablet. i loaded netflix and disney and its there car travel tv and morning tv/games entertainment. they love all the simple games and they dont ask me how to do anything with it. they dont get stuck into settings or odd things. no ads, when they get older im sure they will want ipads, but for the 3-8 year old age, its perfect.

I bought Fire7 for my 5 year old and it's been good experience.

Amazon software sucks and is full of bolatware that will make it slowwwww...

I used this toolbox to remove all Amazon garbage and it works like a regular Android tab.. pretty good for a 5 year old who doesn't flips through multiple apps..

It's not difficult to do sure, but if there are comparable options that do what I want out of the box, why bother fiddling around with sideloading and all of that, especially when the underlying specs are subpar. The tablet lasted me for a year, so I likely got my money's worth (I had gotten it for like 80$ IIRC) but once I got the free tablet offer from freedom, the kids don't pick up the fire tablet anymore.

I have a couple of 8" Fire tablets (not the kids version) for my kids and once I loaded the Play Store and Play Services they've been great. Cheap enough that if they break it's not the end of the world. My oldest has the older 8" version (2019) model so I'll be upgrading that one to the newest model since he games on it (Minecraft, Roblox etc) and will give that one to my youngest.

For an inexpensive tablet for media consumption and light gaming, they are worth it to me.

Because where else can you get an 8" on sale for $129 (prime days) with a 2 year no questions ask warranty?

I don't worry about the kids dropping it, using it outside in the rain or anything else really, they also love all the games that come on it, and they aren't as bad for in app purchases as many of the play store kids apps. Any native tablet at that price is also going to be slow, and won't have the warranty. It's offers a solid value at sale price IME.

Bought an HD 8, played with it for 30 mins and had to send it back. It was that bad even with sideloading and debloating.
