These hubs are not that good for anythign heavy duty. I wasn't able to get a drive enclosure working over it. My similarly priced orico hub did work though. for mice or keyboard or printers, it's okay.

I don't buy these no name hubs, they always fail or don't work properly. As per the reviews, plug in more than one device and it stops working. There is a reason why it costs $8.99.

I bought the Amazon one and I've plugged in 4 devices and it works (even a hard drive)

Strongly agree. I thought it was my hard drive when it started acting up on this. But it worked just fine when I connected directly.

Ya, it's best to use a powered USB hub in this case

Thanks, Updated the post. I bought a usb 3.0 one for low power devices and as a accessory in my laptop bag.
I can assume the low power chips in these cheap hubs cannot power high power draw devices such as spinner external HDD's.

For USB hubs and PC accessories, I highly recommend AmazonBasic brand name.

I have been using their products for over a year and never had a single issue. I run at least 4-5 of their products 24/7 on my PC and laptop. I am not sure who manufactures these for amazon but the quality is excellent.

Does this read as an oxymoron to others too?
