Highly doubt any of these external cases will maximize the theoretical speed of a full USB 3.0, let alone an SSD.
There's no need to get a super fast SSD for it. Something in the 350 MBps is probably more than good enough

Nice find! Exactly what I am looking for.
Does USB 3.1 makes any difference for an old SSD?

Good price but I'm not a fan of the cable being a part of the adapter. I prefer a standalone cable, in case I need to replace it.

so i don't need to get an evo 960 ssd to get faster speeds in my nvidia shield your saying? i did a benchmark test and i was only getting 100MB/s read on my current old gen ssd, i thought if i get a faster ssd i might get fast read speeds, i feel my shield is lagging on adoptive storage

For my money theres 2 good uses for this, Nvidia shield, or Xbox, either of those will work well with a mid range SSD inside.

but the case is 2.5 so a 3.5 drive wouldnt fit the case even though its the same connectors correct?

Get a dock that can handle both sizes (not at the same time).

Be careful.
Some usb enclosures/docks have limits on HD capacity 2T, 4T, 8T etc.
I have an older dock that wont accept 3T HD and Windows OS tries to re-format to lower the threshold.

I know I need one, and I am reading mostly positive comments from you all here. I will probably get at least 1.

But I have a question, I often see them at this price range with other brands like ORICO, UGREEN etc... Is Vantec a higher quality brand?
Others come with all sort of connections which may not be a bad thing for flexibility, as well as a metal case, different form factor so on...

Thanks

Interesting, might be useful to hold my old laptop drive....now if only I can remember if it's SATA drive, I'm pretty sure it is Face With Tears Of Joy
