Once you are Real you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always. Here is one of the most classic and beloved children's stories - The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams.Margery Williams' enchanting story about a toy rabbit will live forever in the annals of children's literature, coming alive through this unforgettable rendition.Nursery magic is very strange and wonderful, and only those playthings that are old and wise and experienced like the Skin Horse understand all about it.Like the Skin Horse, Margery Williams understood how toys--and people--become real through the wisdom and experience of love.

Just FYI, this work should now be available in the public domain (author's death -1944- plus 75 years = 2019). It is available as a pdf, epub, or mobi at https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Velveteen_Rabbit. Copies are also available at https://archive.org/search.php?query=velveteen%20rabbit and https://www.gutenberg.org/files/11757/1 ... 1757-h.htm.

Then again, the post is for $0.06 through Amazon so there is the convenience factor, but this is RFD ;)

I'm afraid not, whoever coined that expression must have been short of money.
