Hmm, cheaper than the dimmer 2200 lumens one. I think they're starting to drop in price. I'd wait a couple more months.

The PX727 has better colour reproduction and saturation. The 747 is often touted as being ideal for presentations or other high-contrast projections that don't require accurate colours.

I didn’t know 4K projectors are dropping to the $1000 level.

From reading the Q&A from Amazon:
Question: why so cheap? when everywhere else this projector is $1500 plus

Answer: From what I can determine, it is because ViewSonic projectors do not "Upscale" older 740P and 1080P content to 4K? To me this is critical...and I think you are right, most 4k projectors that do upscale are $1500 +
No up scaling seems bad since I don't have that much 4K content currently.

With TVs being so cheap why would anyone look at a projector?

Size. For $900 the largest TV you can get is likely a 65 inch, while with a projector and a dark enough room you can easily get a 120 to 200 inch screen.

120" to 250" screen at 4K.

Only $900?

If I had a proper mancave (who calls it that?), I would buy this.

You don't buy a projector because you can't afford a tv...

I have mine in my living room. As long as you have a 8 to 10 feet wall, you're good. It's totally useless in the daytime though.

Not at all, just upscale before you hit the projector. HTPCs or just your PC.

Is it correct to assume that the Epson 5040UB is in a whole other league?
