From Amazon description:
2019 Version Features
-QUAD HD+ RECORDING: Featuring an entirely new chipset design & Sony sensor to support Quad HD+ in 2560 x 1600P / 2560 x 1440P at 30fps to create high quality, vivid and detailed recordings in various lighting.
-SONY 5MP STARVIS SENSOR: Experience the new Sony Starvis 5MP technology with detailed, brighter, crystal-clear images captured in day or nighttime lighting for super clear night vision.
-MOTION & COLLISION DETECTION: Using the camera's G-Sensor and State-of-the-Art motion detection technology, video footage is now intelligently captured in parking mode when moving objects and/or impacts are detected while the vehicle is parked. Files are flagged as important and protected onto the SD card for review.
-PRE-BUFFER RECORDING: Capture the whole story and the events leading up to an event or collision with intelligent recording technology that automatically saves footage both 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after a detected collision or event.

2020 version also adds
-TRUE PARKING MODE: Forget the old and conventional style of parking mode 'frame-by-frame' recording. This camera's video segments are captured in full-continuous clips while the vehicle is parked, rather than strung together 'frame-by-frame'.

Meh.. Been a few months that 2021 model has been selling for $145.95 on OCD Tronic

https://ocdtronic.ca/product/viofo-2019 ... h-gps-cpl/

I was earlier thinking of going for the above model but then changed my mind to get thinkware q800 pro from Amazon for $249.99. Much better camera, features and thinkware is a reputable company with good support.

Great quality cam, I think it's time they move on from mini USB though.

Bought this a year ago, had it professionally mounted in my Q5. Works extremely well, records great video. Very happy with it. Recommended!

I assume they continue to use Mini-USB to keep compatibility with existing hardwire and mounting setups. If my car was already wired with a power kit, I wouldn't buy a camera that didn't use that same connector. Nobody wants to re-wire their mount just to change the cable to micro-USB or USB-C. That being said, I agree that it's a blast from the past when connecting to a PC with mini-USB.

It is $95 USD for the based + GPS
and $105 USD that include the CPL filter
Shipping time from China was about 2.5 weeks.
Which is a worse deal than what the OP posted.

With exchange its more expensive, and 2 weeks more for shipping, and way more hassle returns, so not sure why you would buy from ebay

And what advantage would this serve except to nullify all the accesories for mini usb?

It works both ways. For example my 70mai camera uses micro USB, so I'm less likely to buy a Viofo and redo my setup. I guess mini USB from the GPS days have some staying power.

Does it have built in battery for power? I don’t want wires through my windshield.

The one i posted doesn't come with the CPL filter, which is an extra $15-$20 depending where you buy from, so brings the total to about $146... @DaveGoodmen's ebay post comes with the CPL included for about $133 CAD. But yes shipping time could be a dealbreaker for some.

Could always just get a mini/micro to USB-C adapter, cheapest way to convert any old cable to USB-C

How would that work? A battery powered dashcam that you have to charge up after each drive?

What's the benefit of having a GPS in your dashboard camera? If you were going over the limit it will be used against you. If you were not, it will not help.

That's not a thing. You need power wires. What is optional is the hookup directly to the car battery if you want the camera to work when the car is turned off including the regular power ports. The wires on the windshield are not visible if you mount it well. Mine are entirely behind the rearview mirror for example
