Not a b-die. For that reason, I'm out

Super tempting... but must resist... I don't have this kind of money to spend right now.

The memory chips used aren’t Samsung B die, which overclocks very well.

I didn’t look, but being Patriot I imagine it’s Hynix C die, which does not overclock well.

I believe Samsung has ceased B-die production awhile back. Yes, it uses Hynix chip. I paid ~$190 for this kit last summer with my Ryzen 3800X build. I dont see any issue use this kit if there is no plan to overclock.

What were the best timings you got? I have a 3800X as well!

It was awhile back. I think I got it post at 3433MHz by tweaking the timing/bumming up the voltage. 3600MHz was no go. I reckon the few % gain in benchmarks is not worth it and simply stick with 3200MHz XMP settings.

Will this fit on laptops? Will this fit the HP 15” envy that Costco sells?

Laptops nearly always use SODIMM, so these strips would be too big to fit.

I got the 3866Mhz ones last year but I run mine at 3600Mhz with tighter timings. These are also Samsung B dies.

Overclocking already fast ram is pretty silly.

A 20% overclock translates to like +1% real world performance difference. Nothing you'd ever notice.

In exchange for minor risk of the ram dying at a faste rate .. not worth. Just run the XMP profile and be happy you have good ram.

Unless paired with an APU, difference is huge then
