Finally, been waiting a year for this price to show up. Thanks OP.

It's weird that the images show the usb cable and not the power cable as well.

WD site shows 2 year warranty and Amazon says 3 year. Anyone know which is true?

Check your drive when you receive it (from amazon reviews):

Sounds like asshole customers are buying the drives, shucking them returning them with inferior or no drives inside. Amazon is not checking and is reselling them.

Thanks, I will also avoid, not worth the hassle.

I recall with WD Elements enclosures like this that if you open the enclosure it can't be "sealed" again since it breaks some tabs or something. Not sure how Amazon isn't seeing this.

Also noticed in the reviews users complaining about the noise, and apparently this hard-drive doesn't go to sleep when inactive.

Oh it can be sealed but it won't look pretty!

Looks like Best Buy doesn't carry these anymore. Usually hope they match, which they do, as I prefer picking up drives locally as how individual drive shipping is a huge lottery in terms of literal impact.

Bumping this question as well. It would appear the answer could be yes since people are shucking and returning.

If you want to shuck and get the red or white: yes

Not really sure what that means. What if I just want to use it for retro video games (up to ps3/360 era)

From what I found 4 years ago, it was 80EMAZ

And there are many assumptions regarding this drive on Reddit.

Amazon is getting worse at this and people are getting to be bigger assholes. Just happened to me with a thunderbolt 4 cable. Inside the package was a $10 displayport cable instead of $80 thunderbolt. I thought all returns went to warehouse deals and were inspected. Now I think they are just taking people's word for it on the returns.
