The WD Black has 40% faster read speed for the same price at 500 GB, at 1TB it's up to the user to decide if it's worth saving $20 for the slower read speed.yesstyle wrote: ↑ How about this one: https://www.amazon.ca/Blue-SN550-500GB- ... F3JCN&th=1
1TB = $140
500GB = $80

If any of the slots are SATA-only, that means SATA only--i.e. you can't use an NVMe in there period. NVMe is not compatible with SATA, it doesn't just downgrade to SATA speeds, it simply won't work. Now if it's limited to a lower PCIe speed, it will work at that lower speed, but not if it's SATA-only slot.quantman wrote: ↑ Seems like the second slot is limited to Sata3 speed. It will work but will lose a TON of performance using an NVME drive in it.
You can check this page, go down to storage. You will see 1- Ultra m.2 at pcie3x4 speeds, and 1- m.2 at sata3 speeds.

Anyway has WD fixed their marketing BS/fiasco with the shingled business on the HDD side of things yet? Not really in the market for any more SSDs myself but just wondering if I should be recommending people to buy their stuff again...

Thinking if this would pair well with the Thinkpad P14s deal from earlier this month, makes more sense to buy a larger faster SSD than pay $60 cad for another 256GB half-length SSD to populate the WWLAN slot.

SN750, yes most likely.
SN550, possibly not compatible, not worth the risk.
I aim to be inclusive and considerate of others in my posts. If I fall short of that mark, feel free to let me know in good faith, and where appropriate, I'll edit my posts. Thank you.

It's got a M.2 slot, but it's a Wlan socket and doesn't support storage drives. https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05355651YCBS28 wrote: ↑ Can someone help me, can you tell me if my motherboard has a m.2 slot
