People say this works with PS5 despite WD not recommending it due to the lack on on board RAM, but has anyone got experience with this first hand on RFD? Also, do you need to get your own heat sink with it or is it okay without? I'm assuming you need the heat sink, but... ignorance is my strong suit ;).

Sony does not recommend any SSD that does not have onboard DRAM

All about Host Memory Buffer, the tech that’s making SSDs cheaper

from https://www.playstation.com/en-ca/suppo ... 2-ssd/#faq

Do PS5 consoles support Host Memory Buffer?
No. Some M.2 SSD devices may support Host Memory Buffer (HMB) but they may experience slower-than-expected performance because the PS5 console does not support HMB.

According to CCC for a few days. $5 more I’m not gonna complain if I need a good drive right now

It was a coupon error. $80 (or $160 2TB) plus a 20% off coupon on the WD store that was not supposed to be able to stack. One had to farm the coupon generator on the home page to eventually get a 20% off code. And the shipping was $15+ for orders under $300. It was fixed within a day. So it was YMMV.

I have been using a SN750 SE in a PS5 for over a year. I know two people using SN770 in PS5 because my SN750 SE worked so well. These Gen4 drives work in PS5 without any issue, I have another PS5 with a MP600 Pro that is much faster and there is absoletely no noticeable improvement with the faster drive.
That's 30 minutes away, I'll be there in 10.

Actually, I saw that post. But I do not need $300+ products.

CCC is known to not registering all prices. I've noticed this countless times on items I'm interested in. To me it's still a good reference guide but don't assume it's always accurate.

I would go with 2TB, if using on PS5.

I got a 1TB NVMe when they first enabled it on the PS5 beta, and now I kinda wished it had gotten 2TB instead. Prices back then were also way more expensive for 2TB. It was like $400-500 back then.

Anyone know why I might be getting the "Inaccessible boot device" with the 2 TB model on my laptop? As far as I can tell the clone was successful and I can see in the BIOS that it does recognize that the 2 TB SN770 is what I have installed.

Haven't had this issue with any other clones I've done so far.

You might have to go into your bios and force the PCIE slot to run in Gen3.

Didn't know that was a thing at all, I'll check it out when I'm home later.
