[Amazon.ca] WD SN850 1TB Gen4 SSD - Works w/ PS5; $209

Here we go! On sale for $209. Not a bad price...the similar Samsung did hit $219 recently too. In stock October 21.

*This will require the purchase of a heatsink to be used with the PS5 for extra internal storage. Installation is pretty easy.

Price in title please; $209.99 ATL

I had the 1TB version for my laptop. These run very hot compared to the Samsung ones. Should be fine for desktops.

This and the 980 Pro are tops.

They won't be gimped until the next gen replaces them, so you should be good.

PS5 friendly.

Do we need to add a heat sink to use with the PS5?

Seems like heatsinks come and go from Amazon...with prices ranging from $13 (what they should cost...at most) to $25 (inflated pricing...). Some are fulfilled by Amazon and others ship from China.

This is the one I bought, it was $6 cheaper a few weeks ago. Not many reviews but it has worked perfectly.

I got the exact same heatsink. This is slightly lower profile than some other ones at top sellers... Those work with ps5 too but must be very tight fit. It was 18 bucks when I bought it last week. Recommended for PS5 (by me :))

Yes, if you do not want to be thermal throttled.
Some motherboards already have a heatsink included.

good price. Glad I jumped on the heatsinks early during beta. Grabbed one for $9 instead of the $20+ they are charging now :p

Yes, your motherboard should have came with a heatsink, the "M.2 Shield Frozr"

From https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/msi-p ... ing,2.html

High transfer speed generates more heat. To prevent PCI-E 4.0 SSDs from throttling and to allow full-speed performance, M.2 Shield Frozr is the best thermal solution. All MSI TRX40, X570, and B550 motherboard products have at least one M.2 Shield Frozr to cool down SSD.
