Yep, happy at this price and snagged 4.

Dang, bought the WD red for 89.99 the other day, haven't opened it yet. I'm not using this for NAS, just for plex and storing data on my desktop. Would the red plus make a difference to me?

What's the rpm? Hope 7200 at least

Haha, yeah, you're looking at about twice the price to hit 7200rpm on 4TB drives. The WD Red PRO 4TB hits that, these are just the PLUS version, but still better than the basic Red.

If you can buy at Best Buy, probably would be better.
After buying some drives at Amazon, and the bare drive coming in bubble mailers, I try to avoid Amazon. Sometimes they ship them properly. But not always.

The only "Plus" is being designed to be used in a NAS.

All red is designed for NAS, basic is SMR, and Plus is CMR, Pro is for lager deployment and higher iops.

Thanks OP! I was looking for drives yesterday to build an Unraid NAS with an old computer I have lying around. I almost pulled the trigger on Iron Wolf drives as I wanted to avoid the SMR in the Red line - with the Pro only being $10 I can save a few bucks!

i'm looking to add a storage drive to my personal computer (video, photos, random other backup, etc.) is there any downside to using one of these nas drives? 4tb CMR is what I was looking for so i'm interested in this deal.

If you would pay twice the money, you could get a faster drive with a 5-year warranty instead of 3.

Not ideal to use any NAS drive in regular PC due to very different error correction algorithm. Better to use a desktop drive, best is Enterprise grade drive if you are willing to spend. Good luck
