thanks OP. this would make a great backup drive in my usb enclosure.

edit: looks like they park their heads every 8 seconds. that’s annoying. wonder if it’s possible to disable it. My old blue would actually even spin down every 8 seconds but fortunately it was possible to disable it.

edit 2: it’s possible to disable it. https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/comme ... cmr_10999/

Sigh... Was waiting on a deal on this for Black Friday. Nothing so I just bought it (actually had bought it around week of). It's already installed and too late for price match and what not. Oh well.

I was literally about to ask the same thing. Hope someone can help.

You're better off using Red Plus Pro or Gold for NAS use. This would be good for storage/ back up either in your computer tower or external drive.

One last thing. It depends on what you use your NAS for and how often it's accessed. I have an older NAS with Blue drives but its not on 24/7 with limited access and data backed up.
Up votes, down votes, they're all votes for me! I thank you!

Same here. Was looking for a 10TB or above deal but nothing on BF or boxing day. Then this happens out of the blue. I figured I had one more year before upgrading but purchased the 14TB deal.
