Thanks OP.

I don't have an immediate need or foresee what I'll use this for. But only $3.98 and 'all time low' and I bought it.

Future me will be thankful for this impulse buy... Maybe.

Also I think the cap is designed to dull the blade so you have to buy replacements sooner.

Looking at the price history, seems like the average price is about $7. But it's been as high as $21.40? Lol. Bonkers. I have no need for this (we get by with dollar store Xacto knives for the occasional time that we need them) but good deal for folks that need these.

“Self-healing” cutting mats are made from independent tiny pieces pressed together to create a solid cutting surface. When you cut on the mat, the blade actually goes between the tiny pieces, separating them, and not cutting into the surface as a whole unit. After the cut is made, the surface has a “memory” and closes back together, thus it is referred to as “self-healing.”

I used the original x-acto knife from Staples ($4.59) with a stainless steel ruler and Princess Auto cutting mat to crop some Costco photos 12 x 18 to 12 x 16. Cutting straight lines with a really sharp blade is therapeutic.
