[Amazon.ca] Yakuza Kiwami: Steelbook Edition (PS4) - $24.99

Works out to be $5 cheaper than the standard edition.

Those games will last you quite a while, so I would wait unless you want the steelbook. Game launched at $40 so it will no doubt drop further, especially for digital.

The only comparison with GTA is that it's an open world game ostensibly about organized crime with lots of side activities. Otherwise it's a very different game.

Remastered 1st game with the Steelbook for only $25.00? Hell I'm never gonna beat that...thanks OP for taking more of my money away from me.

BTW savings is $15 or 38% :). Great game but since it's a remake from the PS2 day I'm hesistant to bite. Still looking for a hard copy of Yakuza 0, kijiji only has 1 available for $60...sigh.

Kiwami has the best story in the series. Yakuza 0 is probably the best overall game in the series, closely followed by 5 (PS3) and this one.

Stupid Amazon, won't even refund on their own pricing. Just bought it again and returning the other one I got.

The remake is honestly very well done, it doesn't look like a PS2 game that's for sure. While Kiwami may not be the prettiest game on PS4, it runs at 60 FPS and the combat is fun + the story is great. I highly recommend it at that price man!

I actually think 0 is the highlight, both from a gameplay and a character development and story perspective. Don't get me wrong, I love Kiwami (more Majima is always a good thing), but the characters aren't given the time to develop in the way they do in other games.

This is a phenomenal supplement to 0, but if you haven't played 0, I really think that's what'll make somebody fall in love with this series.

So how does this work for order to play the series?

(PS4) - Yakuza 0
(PS4) - Yakuza Kiwami (Yakuza 1 remake)
(PS4) - Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Yakuza 2 remake)
(PS3) - Yakuza 3
(PS3) - Yakuza 4
(PS3) - Yakuza 5
(PS4) - Yakuza 6

I wonder if they will just keep going with the remakes?

I hope the remakes keep coming because they did such a great job with Kiwami.

I actually bought and best Kiwami first, liked it, and then got 0 on sale during BF.

I bought it on PSN and this game is amazing for the price. Couldn't stop playing and ended up beating it in a few sittings.

There's a case for starting with Kiwami, but 0 is such a good entry point to the series and sets up the characters so well, that I would definitely recommend starting there if you can. If you want to just skip ahead to the later entries, though, it's not the end of the world. Most of the storylines are pretty self-contained.
