[Amazon.ca] YI 2pc Smart Home Camera 3 - $67.99

$67.99 for 2 indoor cameras. I have not used this brand before but it seems good.

I just bought these cameras a couple weeks ago.

You don't need to buy the Yi Cloud service if the basic free functions are good enough.

Everything runs through the Yi Home app and you do need to register for it. Setup through the app is REALLY easy though.

We bought the cameras just so we can get notifications when deliveries are dropped off at our door. The camera detects motion at the front, records 6 seconds of video with sound, then sends us a notification. That's good enough for our purposes and those functions are included for free. You can set up sound detection to trigger recording as well.

Honestly this was a great buy I'm really happy with for what we need it for.

Is the camera set up inside or outside the house?

Can you take RTSP stream from it?
If I buy something that is not in deep discounted, my father will punish me; everyone will laugh at me. I will be the strange kid who doesn't fit in.

This cam
pro - price, sd max size 128gb
con - 6 seconds 7 day retention in cloud

Wyze cam
pro - 12 seconds 14 day retention in AWS cloud
con - price is more expensive than this cam, sd max size 32gb

Am wondering whether Wyze's double cloud recording (12 vs 6 seconds) and double cloud retention (14 vs 7 days) justifies the higher price?

I have it set up inside looking out a window. At night the IR lights for the night vision reflect off the window so it doesn't capture things at night very well unless the motion lights outside get triggered by something. I don't think this particular camera is meant for outdoors.

You can download the 6 second clips to your device through the app if you need them for longer than the 7 days.

I think the camera is on sale for $33 for one on Amazon which actually makes it cheaper to buy 2 individual ones: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01CW4 ... UTF8&psc=1

They also go on sale somewhat regularly for ~$30 price point. I have 2 for watching a puppy and like them a lot. The app is pretty good and you don't need to pay for cloud unless you want some extra features such as cloud storage of longer clips.

Another big Con for the Wyze is that it has a "cooling period" of 5 minutes between recordings - this is a bad design, bad implementation.

I bought one a couple of months ago from Amazon, the price was ~$29. So the current deal is not very hot.

I think the recommendation is 32gb, but it works with bigger cards. I have a 128gb card in mine for 6 months so far and it works fine.

For this type of setup, recommendation is turn off Night Vision Mode and Night Vision IR Lights.

Wyze cam you can have more than 32 gb for the sd card if needed. If you end up using a 32 gb just record when there's a event that triggers the camera.

In this day and age, you kinda wonder why Wyze is sticking on 32gb recommendation. I am just afraid getting into a data issue because I used a bigger size sd card. With my luck, things fail at the most inappropriate time.

FYI - Last time these camera were on sale they were the Yi Camera 2.
These are Yi Camera 3 which has some spec differences.
https://www.wiredbeaver.com/yi-home-camera-3-vs-2/

Summary
Yi Camera 2 vs Yi Camera 3:
Frames : 25fps vs 20fps
Field of View: 130degrees vs 107degrees
Night Leds: 11 IR led vs 8 IR led
Cloud: 0Months Free vs 6Months Free (20*6 = 120$)
Base: Standard vs Magnetic
Motion: Non Ai vs Ai (detect human)
Sound Detection: Various vs Various+additional(baby crying)

In my opinion it sounds like the Camera 3 shaved off hardware specs in exchange for some software improvements and subscription to cloud.

I purchased this one for even a lower price @28. But found it was different with the one in OP. OP is camera version 3 with magnet base and support card with size up to 128 G, not even to mention it includes 6-months cloud services. Personally I prefer the one in OP.
Edit: typo correction and more details
