I know in the review that it provides the greatest filtration, but it complained about the lack of taste.

Seriously considering it, but the filter cost and replacement frequency kind of makes me think twice. Wonder what the price comparison of having an under sink unit vs changing a filter every month is.

Under the sink options are always cheaper in the long run if you don't mind the installation, look for NSF/ANSI-53 if you are after health, NSF/ANSI42 if you are after taste. Zerowater filter life depends on quality of your tap water and the consumption rate. If you use one jug per day with a tap water TDS read of under 150, you are looking for approx. 1 month of filter life.

Montreal has a lot of water inlet pipe made in lead.
Therefore, the city of montreal has promote to provide a reduce price of the 10cup pitcher and 4 filter.
Marketplace will gets you 50$ for 10cup pichet and 4 filter easily.

There's also walmart clearance shelf sometime has 50% off, because its missing the TDS tester.
YMMV

I'm in Montreal. Where do you find this reduced price promoted by the city?

This filter is great , we have it here in BC but mind you our water is already excellent. Two filters at London Drugs cost $39, one comes w pitcher. It lasts us near 5+ mths. Filtration slows alot towards the end but this is a good unit. Aside from buying under counter I would buy it and couple filters if on sale
How can I be broke when I am saving so much?

They went on sale from time to time for $40 to $50 for 4 packs at Bed Bath and Beyond. The lowest price for the 4pk was $32 ($40 + 20% coupon).

This filter removes nearly all material, especially any that can be detected with a TDS meter they come with. From what I know distilled water/RO water isn't as good for you as water that has dissolved minerals like spring water. TDS from tap (for me) is like 45. From the zeorfilter is 0, from a water cooler with spring water its about 250 to 275. Confirm level by reading the label on bottle. Brita tastes far better, just got the filter+pitcher for $6.60. tds of 45 before and 37 after a run though a Brita. Not effective but removes chlorine taste effectively. Zero was for dealing with leaded lines that were replaced. Need filtering 6 months after replacement until testing can confirm levels. it did not taste good, identical to distilled actually, but gave great coffee water.

How good is the TDS if they can give it out for free? I find that it tastes funny after a couple of days even with a filter.

The Zero filter removes dissolved solids from the water.

This is the only filter I could find that does that.
Others may remove chlorine or etc etc

Anyone know if one can use the Zero Filter sporadically... (ie. for camping purposes where you use it for a few days, and then not use it again for a few days/weeks/months later?... or do you always have to keep the filter moist all the time to keep it effective?
