This is not the "cheapest its been".

$205.24 was.

Corrected. Although CCC says lowest for amazon was $223.37 on Nov 2017...

Edit: I do see that Keepa says lowest was $205, might have been a lightning deal.

Have the model, it's a great product, just wished it was cheaper. Since I use it daily, I consider it worth the purchase for my use, your mileage may very.

I just bought one less than 2 weeks ago and can confirm it’s great to have. Anyway we paid 258$... have you guys had success trying to claim some sort of price protection from Amazon historically? Thanks.

I've had mixed luck with PAs. Don't use the online chat, but call in to their customer service line. They can't price adjust, but can return a certain amount to your original payment method. In my case, difference was ~$14 and they refunded 15 dollars to my cc.

I have both the 4L and 5L. Both have been working fantastic for me. I drink coffee/tea daily.

Clean by soaking with citric acid solution (can google the ratios, I can never remember). Leave it for at least a day, the longer the better. Deposits will “melt” off.
Dump all the water out, fill it up and let it boil, then dump out all of this water too.

FYI - The thermostat broke and didn't keep the water at the desired temperature. This was just over a year into it so it was out of warranty.

Perfect timing OP, my National boiler has been going strong for almost 20 years and has just starting to act up the last couple of weeks. I've been looking out for a deal on a Japanese made boiler with at least 3 litre capacity.

I've been using this every day for the past 4+ years. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

Awesome - just added on some pre-made citric acid to start (Zojirushi brand - yes its overpriced) - will check ratios for DIY after.

Are there any signs when it's time to clean? Once every X months?

could someone remind me if this is the model (hybrid) that the energy consumption during the standby/keep warm is lower than typical boiler?
