[Amazon.ca] ZTE Axon M for $225 all in

For those not wanting to pay the 1k plus on one of the upcoming foldable phones, there’s the axon M. Not perfect by any means but it does offer flexibility in the way you consume videos, reading etc.

Note: as mentioned, it’s not perfect. One screen seems to display whites slightly warmer than the other. You may also notice that text is very slightly misaligned between screen which is noticeable.

As an owner, I can say these things bothered me at first. Having had it for a month I can say then benefits outway these issues. I’ll let you investigate those benefits and decide for yourself. Also note that I use this as a tablet accompanying my day to day cell. Can’t speak to what it’s like as your primary phone.

This is more like two screens phone. Fold phone should be as one screen when you unfold

When you open an app, does the window span across both screens? Does it cut off the middle of the window?

From Amazon's price history chart, we might see this contraption price going lower. And probably pretty soon too.

There’s a setting that forces all apps to span. Nothing is cut off.

SD82x CPUs were hand warmers. Don't expect good battery life.

It is basically only worth it if you really want that second screen, which I think it is a not that useful anyways.

The phone is not getting any security updates, stuck in android 7, spotty warranty if you have to deal with it.

It would be better to pay a tiny bit more and pick up a Galaxy S8 on a discount from Koodo.

This guy is correct, I owned 2 Snapdragon 820 devices, both were space heaters. Oneplus 3T almost melted when plugged in to my car running Android Auto. Never again

This is good for our long, cold winters, no?

In for 2, one for each hand.
Why can't we all just get along?

Not only that, throttling may happen too. That's one of the reason I had to gave up on BB Priv (although SD820 has it worse than SD821)

Now I can see this phone is useful if it has dual app mode that may be run 2 different facebook or instagram accounts side by side for social media managers.

I came close to buying one a while back ($160US on eBay), but after reading reviews I passed. In extended mode there's a big black bar in the middle, and mirrored mode might be good for say, watching the same video across a table; cool the first time but how many times would I actually use it.

I guess the double screen could come in handy in some apps, but SD821 is a battery hog and using both screens drains it pretty fast. Hopefully they'll be other cheap folders in the future though.

I've had this phone since beginning of December... i really like the functionality of this device....I like the fact of operating two apps independently of each other on there own screens...this phone has the horsepower to function without any slowdowns for my needs... like cpus456 mentioned I've also used mine for hours with not issues of overheating or getting hot

I used an LG G6 for a few months that used this same processor. Performance was fine - battery life not such much.
