MSI + gaming + laptop = loud fans and hot as a volcano.

Gaming on a laptop isn't that ergonomic plus I'm always wondering if a fire will start.

Any powerful gaming laptop is hot. If you can't live with that then you better buy a desktop to play game. Also fan is always loud. Think about a laptop version of 2060 is about 90% performance of a giant desktop version. It will go up to 80 to 90 degree on full power for sure.

So true my msi laptop with 1060 from last year the cpu and gpu when gaming are 90c average. That's with coolerboost on and a cooling pad with 4 fans.

Yup mine's a 1060 and i7.

It's a work laptop so....i don't want it to catch fire and be *that* guy of the company.

becareful with one thing. from my understanding MSI laptop always blowing air out from the buttom so if your cooling pad is pushing air up then you are making it worest.

I have a GE72MVR 7RG where the GTX 1070 got up to 90C but with some repasting and a few strategic holes below the fan, it only gets up to ~72C. No cooling pads or anything extra.

That's an extremely generous/incorrect number. An RTX 2060 mobile performs about the same level as a desktop 1660 (non-ti, non-super), that's at least 20-25% worse performance. There's also GPU's with the MAX-Q designation (lower wattage for ultraportables), those have another additional ~10% drop in performance on top.

I just took it apart, promptly lost a screw and took enough screws off around the heatsink and fans to remove them. Cleaned the old crappy thermal paste off with 99% isopropanol, applied some MX-4 and reassembled it. As for the holes, I had someone drill them for me before I got did the thermal paste change.

This video is specific to the laptop in this deal. It will only show you how to open up the bottom.

This video will give you a general idea of how to remove the heatsinks and fans and then replace the thermal paste.

Isn't the A15 with the 4800H and 1TB SSD a better choice than this MSI at the same price? Sure it's slightly chunkier, but it actually looks less plasticky than the GF65, which looks much cheaper in comparison. Screen is comparable, since they're both poor in colour gamut. And the processor is simply better. Thermally the MSI may do slightly better (although the MSI isn't that great itself). You also get an RGB keyboard.

Unless you really need the slightly smaller build, the A15 actually beats out the GF65 in most metrics. Apparently the A15 with its known thermal issues still outperforms the GF65 in that area.

Sounds good. But I really hate amd cpu. To be honest amd only good at bench mark. Intel is always more stable. For the same price why do I want to get amd? If it's $200 different then I will think about it. Same price for sure will get the Intel build.
