[Amazon.com] Amazon Fire TV 4K (3rd Gen.) - $49.99 (USD)

The 4k Amazon fire TV is on sale for $49.99 (regular $69.99) this is a pretty good box for "terrarium" and "Kodi" , I have been using the 2nd gen for about 2 years now without any issues. Much better that those no name Android boxes.

I wish they would just release it here... I'd rather do this than Chromecast due to Alexa. Chromecast might be the way to go though.

The problem is likely the voice remote, not sure why though now that Echos are available here...

Perhaps you know but in case any else reads it and is interested. You can stream to your fire tv box from your phone via the prime video app(remote control functions then work fine). Yes I wish my boxes supported prime tv natively. But this is a usable workaround until then.

Not too sure, looking at other responses it appears that it doesn't. I've only used it for Kodi and terrariumTV, and it runs "like butter", but I do recommend the ethernet adapter for a wired connection, always better experience than wireless.

All depends on your network, I have no problems running it over wifi.

How does this compare with the Mibox? Particularly for running Kodi and iptv?

amazon's hardware is great, their locked in eco system is terrible though, the main screen for their firetvs is littered with their ads and as far as I know theres very little you can do to turn off the junk. Even trying to get it to auto boot into kodi, plex or netflix is a pain.

Hmm, I have the firestick TV and couldn't find a way to stream it to the firestick from my phone using the prime video app. I'll download the app and try looking harder haha

Though I have no idea how you tell what generation they are.
Those are the 3rd gen Fire TV with the HDR 4K. Looks like it doesn't ship for 4-6 weeks though.

+1

This is why I dumped all my FireTVs and bought Mi Boxes instead. Indeed their hardware is better than the Mi Box, but I couldn't deal with the rest of the garbage.
Also, Mi Box has IR in front, I can use my Harmony 650 with it; for me that is important, I had to hang off a USB IR received on the FireTVs for universal remote usage.

This Amazon Fire TV uses WIFI ..... I am wondering it is better to have it LAN port (I know it come with extra accessories but this is extra) .. how is WIFI general with *any* tv box? I alway use TV Box with a network lan port.

Thanks.

All the recent reviews for this thing are not promising.

Fire TV boxes all have are wired ports, only the fire TV stick has wifi only. Also, the mi box has no hard wired port, but a USB dongle works great, which is what I did for all of them
