[Amazon.com] Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz. 79.99

I think this is the lowest its ever been. There are also other variants of the ram available such as the 32 GB for $155.

Other retailers such as Canada Computers also have it on sale at the same price!

FYI on Ryzen these will default to CL16 and refuse to run at CL15 (this is a Ryzen thing, it's not Corsair's fault). I have a pair of similar spec'd Corsair in white at 32GB and I'm running them at 3200 CL16 instead of the default 3000 CL15.

Is it good or bad for ryzen? Do you regret buying it?

It's fine, just gotta fix the speeds in the bios since the presets won't work.

Will it affect the speed of the other modules?

Are you sure it is not a motherboard thing? I am fairly certain mine is running at 3000.

Thanks for posting. This is the exact same kit I've had in my system for several years. Adding another pair to get to 32GB.

Well I only have 2 modules but in general you should need to run them all at the same speed.

I said it won't do CL15, I never said it won't do 3000 but even with the XMP profile enabled, it defaulted to 3000 CL16. I googled the issue and it's a known thing with Ryzen, which has the memory controller on the CPU, not on the motherboard (Intel too). Anyways OCing the RAM to 3200 worked fine since it was running at CL16, performance between 3000 CL15 and 3200 CL16 is pretty similar anyways.

If you are lucky you may get Samsung die instead of Hynix. I bought one during black Friday and got Samsung die.

Xmp easily detect 3000 for Ryzen on B450m motherboard.

It's probably gear down mode. It forces even tCL, even tCWL and CR 1T. Disabling it will allow you to run odd timings though it might be unstable so you may have to CR at 2T. Which might be worse performance.

I'm running 3800Mhz on CL15 (with Rev E) fine with it off on my Zen 2 system.

Possibly but I see no reason to do that to run 3000 CL15 when I can run 3200 CL16 perfectly stable.

Isn't the CL15 better than CL16?

Ya but 3200 is better than 3000. The bandwidth at 3200 CL16 and 3000 CL15 is identical and I get to run the IF 200mhz higher at 1:1 so the system actually would perform a little bit better.
