https://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/50-off ... n/_/N-2uz5 (*note apparently due to covid restrictions B&N will not ship to CANADA now!)
So Barnes&Nobles in USA is having their Criterion 50% off sale and apparently Amazon US is matching plus some even have additional coupons so decent prices for Canadian fans for many film titles

https://www.amazon.com/Portrait-Lady-Cr ... B0863THLBJ
Portrait of a Lady on Fire Blu Ray 15$ US

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FPJLQ4T
Fellini box set 14 Blu rays ~ around 125+ shipping&handling (195 Canadian) which is still cheaper than if you preorder it at amazon.ca today! (~210$ CAN w taxes total)

https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Films-C ... B088GHZVQK
The Complete Films of Agnès Varda box set 125$ US

I heard some lucky folks even managed to snag the Bergman set for ~130 US :(

They're on sale on Amazon.ca too, but most are at the $40 price point. $20 USD is def. cheaper but there's also shipping to consider.

Arrow movies seem to be the same--mostly $20 USD on sale on Amazon.com, $40 CAD on Amazon.ca 'sale'.

Whoa. Holy smokes. In for the Fellini set.

Edit: Nvm. Canadian boxes set is down to $180 CAD on Amazon Canada.

Unobstructedview.com is also running a 40% off sale and they’re the Canadian distributor for Criterion (and Arrow, but that sale was last month).

Edit: Seeing about $9 USD S&H on each of the films I'm looking at (Irishman, Parasite, War of the Worlds...). Seems like a wash no? Might as well order domestically and avoid any border delays/fees.

You are right, but Amazon US is $125 + $27 shipping so it is more or less the same price.

Sure, If someone wants to pay 25$ MORE to order from Amazon.ca for the same item, they should OR if they want to support the "official" Canadian reseller that someone mentioned above they could pay ~340$C and order from here>>>

Here is the "official" Canadian reseller asking for 335$C incl tax plus shipping for the preorder>>>

Also, RE S&H....its not per item! AMAZON has combined shipping!

? $152 USD is $197 CAD, assuming you get the spot rate. Amazon Canada is $210 after tax. I will pay the extra $10 to get next day guaranteed and not worry about whatever rate my credit card or Amazon will use.

God damn son. You are making me spend money hand over fist. I can’t wait to sit down and be throughly emotionally drained by Bergman films this holiday season.

The Ingmar Bergman set is a HOT price. 30 discs and some of the greatest films ever made. Most of this stuff will never be on streaming services in the foreseeable future, and it's a must buy for anyone seriously into cinema.

I dunno who's buying Roma, it's included on Netflix. Best to go for the Bergman, Kurosawa, Fellini etc. stuff that isn't available on streaming services.

Gonna get dinged at the border if ordering from Amazon.com. Best to order from BN as they ship from the Canadian side and you won't get dinged.

No you won't, you prepay the import fees deposit with Amazon, and if the border doesn't charge the duty (sometimes happens), Amazon will later refund it.

I did actually try to order from BN and I can confirm that they won't ship to a Canadian address at this time.

Amazon US is roughly $5 less as of real world exchange rates, today. Probably best to order from .CA and have easy returns if necessary.

1. Best available editions of classic films
2. Much of the Criterion stuff is not easily available on streaming services

They usually give you the best possible versions of films, with quality packaging and supplementary materials and discs too. Good to get their versions of films you like or you know won't be available anywhere else.

I was tempted to buy the set, but I just checked and the criterion channel (which I subscribe to) has 36 Ingmar Berman films...
