Picked up the 2GB/32GB version of the Moto G5 Plus for $179.99 US from Amazon.com.

Anyways noticed the 4GB/64GB version was also on sale for a pretty good price at $239.99 (USD) (no ads, no prime required, fully unlocked)

Looks like it will ship to Canada (it quotes me $35.92 shipping to BC), or you can ship to a border pickup location like I did for free.

I've already got my Moto G5 Plus, and tested it on the Rogers network.
Looks like it'll support most major networks in Canada:
Specs and compatibility
Moto G Plus - XT1687
CDMA (850, 850+,1900 MHz)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
4G LTE (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 38, 41, 66)

Retailers are probably reducing some stock in the old version

more expensive, metal body (vs. plastic), better camera, better screen, NFC

from Amazon page:
"All Metal Design
Fall for those stunning good looks. Love the smooth feel in your hand. Notice that precision craftsmanship. And count on the durability, day after day. The new Moto G Plus comes with a high-grade aluminum finish that’s been diamond cut and bead-blasted to perfection."

I love my Moto g4 plus.

Except that dumb move to not put a compass in it.

The G5 plus is suppose to have it though.

The techradar article says the current G5 is metal skinned on top of plastic hence the description "aluminium finish". The new G5S is supposed to be 100% metal

Edit: this one is the 32 gb version.

Yeah I saw that thread and bought the 32GB version since it's only for a travel phone/backup phone (but bought it at Amazon.com since it was the same price and was in stock).

On a side note, I am very surprised at how nice the phone is for the price.

Nice! I guess they are clearing out old stock the the "S" versions coming out.
I've tried to order from BB (US) online before, but never had my order go through since I don't have a US CC or billing address.
Even tried phoning in too.

Thanks for posting this! I'm on Freedom mobile and stuck with 3g/HSPA+ speeds on my 3 year old OnePlus One. I liked the 5G plus but it didn't have NFC. I was almost going to buy a Samsung AT through Freedom mobile but wasn't looking forward to the TouchWiz or whatever skin Samsung puts on their phones. I'd much rather have a pure Andriod feel that the 5GS should come with. Hope it isn't giing to be too expensive or if I'm lucky Freedom mobile will carry it.

Got the G5 Plus last time it was on sale for $249.99. I upgraded from a Moto G 2 (2014), which could no longer charge properly, was sluggish and always ran out of memory. What an upgrade!

I love this phone and the little touches that Motorola added to it, like the flashlight and camera gestures, and the nudge that displays the date/time, battery life and notifications when you nudge your phone. Great battery life too.

My g5 won't start at all, charged battery but it doesn't indicate charging. Did I get a lemon?

I'm still on the original moto g! had it 4 years now. dropped it more then I can remember. Snapchat, WhatsApp, Viber, instagragm all work great. surfing isn't bad. I don't play games really so its been fine but the low low storage and camera are huge downfalls. plus side it is water resistant which is why I skipped the g4. so close to snatching it up. when I heard the g5 is I'm going to jump soon. probably wait till the unlock fees are waived starting dec and get from a provider.
