I've been searching to get a new hair dryer as my $20 Conair that I bought from Walmart 8 years ago has been dying.

Found this amazing hair dryer at Amazon.ca but it was way above my budget. (over $300 CDN)
https://www.amazon.ca/Panasonic-Nano-Dr ... B00MFBGATM

As I was browsing Amazon.com, found the same dryer (same ASIN and item model number) at USD $25.15 + $12.86 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to Canada (USD $38.01 = about $48CDN).

ASIN: B00MFBGATM
Item model number: 4549077199577

This is also "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" so I would trust that this is not a fake product.

Note it's for Japanese voltage of 100V..we are 110V-120V

Normally I would say it's ok but for a blow-dryer...risky

The EH-NA96 is EOL, and currently it is on Pre-Order status from Amazon.com and I am very curious and put an order in just in case. It says one ounce ... lol.. I looked up the model number listed on the page and it is in fact the NA96.

This is probably the most sought hair dryer for the ladies as my wife is using the lower end from Taiwan (around CAD$120) model and swears by it.

I have read other Panasonic hair dryers in Amazon.ca and most people says you can work it without transformer. I am going to take a chance and let my wife know to unplug it when not using and watch the heat coming out. Otherwise spending $40-$50 on a hair dryer transformer is still a deal.

Also, Panasonic + Made in Japan = Quality to me.

Think it has some "nano" tech blah blah which makes your hair dry faster and get straighter. At least that is what the wife says but hair dryers are all the same to me.

There are some images with the heat burning the plastic.

I bought one regardless. I'll just use it on medium heat rather than full.

So tempting.. but where do you find a suitable step down converter for it? I wouldn't feel safe using the dryer without one because of the overheating issue. One of the reviewers say the converter should be able to withstand up to 1200w, but something like that is super expensive...
