When was it cheaper? According to the camels, this is the all time lowest price.

WD 10TB Elements was on $225 a few weeks back on Amazon. I'm waiting for black Friday to see if it comes back.

The WD 10TB Elements is $244.

I recall a $25/TB or lower on 10tb drives that needed to be shucked. Maybe prime day or a best buy deal? It was posted here recently, maybe within the last 3 months but I can't find it.

Keepa says this was $231.35 back on April 15, 2019, sold by amazon as well.

The warranty on the MyBook is a year more. Also, I think it has encryption of some sort. If you're shucking, there's no difference.

WD My Book is usually made for Best Buy and elements is for amazon. As someone said before, there is 1 more year of warranty for My Book. P

People who shuck report higher quality drives from my book. Like higher chance of a red label instead of white and higher chance of helium instead of air. Don't take this from me though, you should do your own research on the matter.

when people say shuckable, is that shuckable, in that I have read here on RFD, that you have to put a pin in/on one of pins...

or is it shuckable and ready to go with nothing else to do?

thanks

Only issue are the new drives that are under 8tb. They usually need a 3v3 pin disconnected which is done with a piece of tape or nail polish or similar. These drives should be identical drives to wd red units. If there's firmware tweaks that can be done, I'm not sure, but out of the shell they'll work as is in most systems with no mod or hardware change
