I followed this XDA thread to unlocked a Fire 7 7th gen (Austin) on Fire OS 5.6.4.0 (636558720) successfully by shorting the VDD1 contact.

My brief steps are:
1. Download amonet-austin-v1.4.1.zip
2. Unzip it and open a Terminal in amonet directory.
3. Run these two commands:
sudo systemctl stop ModemManager
sudo systemctl disable ModemManager
4. Open up the back cover.
5. Unplug the battery - need to unscrew two screws.
6. Run sudo ./bootron-step.sh and see the "waiting for bootrom" message.
7. Apply a paper clip to short the VDD1 contact to the metal RF shield.
8. Plug in the mico USB cable and wait for the message indicating the moment to remove the shorting.
9. Remove the paper clip shorting.
10. Plug in the battery - the 2 screws can be put back later.
11. Press <Enter> for bootrom-step.sh to continue.
12. Wait to see the hacked fastboot screen appears on the tablet screen.
13. run sudo ./fastboot-step.sh
14. Voila! The tablet reboots into TWRP.
15. Screw back the 2 screws on both side of the battery plug.
16. Close the back cover.

That is all.

NOTE: Tried shorting the CMD contact a dozen times without success. But shorting the VDD1 contact with a paper clip was much more easier. I succeeded in the second time. See Post #1075 of the XDA thread for a image of the locations of these two contact points.

The Fire 7 Austin (2017) is now running Fire Nexus Rom. Its booting splash screen reminds me the old days of my Nexus 5 smartphone :)
