Also depending on the item you may get a refund very soon after CP initiates the return process.

I always have both options available as well, but always choose UPS since they will come pick it up for free. Very convenient to not have to go to one of those UPS drop-off locations.

So I returned the high value package and it's not even been update on Amazon that they have it, even though tracking from UPS shows it's been delivered

I contacted support on Saturday as I had not received an update, the person requested a refund and I still haven't received anything.

Today I contact them again and this support member is now telling me that an investigation team is dealing with it as it's a high value item. They stated it will take 1-2 weeks from when they received the package, plus another week for the refund. Talk about inconsistency.

My biggest issue now is, my current Costco MasterCard expires on 10/21. So, the refund will be cutting it close on Sept 27-29th. I have the new MasterCard in hand, but don't want to activate it because I'm afraid they can't refund it back to the old card. Not sure what to do if they take longer.

Refunds will work on the new card even if it was charged to the old card.

It's good until the end of the month, 10/31/21.

You'll get lots of grace time. Last time I totally forgot to activate my new card, my old worked for weeks after it was supposed to expire.

The last few Amazon returns - soon as the package was moving I automatically got my refund without them receiving my package.

They couldve had a bag of rocks inside. Oh well.

Thank you!

I received an email from them saying they messed up basically and they requested a refund AGAIN, sigh 🤦‍♂️.

I have had this happen multiple times where I had automatic refund basically after an hour of dropping off returns to UPS.

In my experience, items worth over $500 are checked and cleared before the refund is issued. Last I read, they said it can take up to 21 days due to the high volume of returns they receive. I've had a camera lens in limbo for almost three weeks before the return was complete. No issues but it was quite a wait.

Thanks for everyone that helped me answer my initial question about Amazon return dates.

My question now is, how long does it take for Amazon Canada website to update the UPS item accepted/shipped on their website?

I started the high value return yesterday and gave it to the UPS store, they scanned it and I made sure to get a receipt. Also, the UPS tracking shows enroute and estimated delivery September 7th. When I check Amazon, it still says “Return by September 5th” and it doesn’t show that UPS has it or anything.

Does it matter at this point what it says on the website as I have shipped the package on September 4th already?
They know the day it went to the post office, as long as it was mailed by the return date you are fine. Does not matter how long it takes to get to them.
That's my 2cents worth

I received the refund the second time I contacted them, a "specialist" or whatever emailed me and apologized. Then by 2300hrs, I received the email saying a refund was given and I saw on my CC already.

Thanks for all the help as always RFD!
