The following calculation is assuming you won't be able to fully maximize the 10x eats and drinks offer and that you value MR/Aeroplan points at 2.1 cents/point. It also assumes you're going to transfer MR -> Aeroplan and the credit card perks such as hotel status don't matter. If I've done the calculation correctly by removing the 50,000 points earned from that part of the SUB, it would bring down the value of both cards to:

Aeroplan Reserve
100,000 Aeroplan points = $2100
Less the annual fee = -$599
GCR Rebate = $50
Grand Total is $1551 net value

Personal Platinum
100,000 MR points = $2100
Less the first year annual fee = -$699
Less the second year annual fee (to receive the second part of the SUB)= -$699
Plus the first year annual travel credit = $200
Plus the second year annual travel credit $200
Grand Total is $1102 net value

Thanks for posting. Most of the cards are well covered and discussed in the dedicated AMEX threads including these recent promos.

Good time to bank points for travel reopening. Just hope the don't devalue us into oblivion.

Yes, your wife should be able to refer you if you want to get the Personal Plat. As I understand it, she should get 20,000 MR for it.

I cancelled my personal plaz back in Dec 2020. Is there a mandatory wait time until I can apply again to qualify for welcome bonus?

Can someone who owned an Amex Plat in the past apply again and get the same benefits?

I don’t think you get a second chance, at least for the exact same card.

Extremely YMMV, a year in between applications is better

I had tears in my eyes when I first looked at these offers, we Canadians are not used to such treatment from financial institutions...

must be some intern who accidentally updated the Canadian Amex site instead of the US site

Damn, already have 4 of them lolFace With Tears Of Joy

the regular AP looks like a great deal for $120 but it seems the free buddy pass is gone (worth 30k). so it is about 5000 pts extra compared to before. Still, not bad at all for a regular card.
