Don’t get a supplementary card while applying, since amex offers $10 cashback to add a supp. Card when you activate the primary card online.

(When you receive the card per postal mail)
Does this pop up when you activate primary card online ... or '$10 cb to add supp card', sent via email?

$10? When did this change? Used to be $25, maximum 9 free supps. Even the larvae were getting their own cards in those days.

Z, you'll see it via email or online notices, sometimes during activation and/or every now and then later on when you're online reviewing your account. I don't recall seeing it as a postal mailer, but maybe they don't feel the need to notify me any more. :D

I downgraded when Costco stopped accepting Amex. It's a solid 1.25 for a free card.

Damn it, wish I knew that when applying! Guess I will have to find more larvae who need cards...

It did pop up online when I activate primary card.

I did not get any email about it.

Does anyone know when this offer expires, or how long these offers tend to last? Thanks

Applied for the card through GCR and was instantly approved with $9K limit. Received the physical card in about a week. Went and purchased one big ticket item over $4,000, Base points and bonus points showed within a couple of days. Pleasantly surprised to see that base points stack with bonus so you're getting $480 on $4,000 spent and not just $400. Add the $60 in from GCR and that's $540. That's HOT! Thanks OP and thanks AMEX!!!

Sorry if the stacking was already mentioned earlier but I haven't read the entire thread.

Hmm, isn't it 10%/$400 max CB for $4k spend; over and above 2% CB, with annual fee $99 - $60 GCR = $39?

Interesting. The terms explicitly state: "If the bonus earn rate of 10% applies to a purchase, the base earn rate will not also apply to the same purchase."

With this card the NON GCR CB works out to 7.525 % ( 400-99= 301. 301/4000)
The GCR CB works out to 9.025 % ( 400+60-99=361. 361/4000 )
