Notes
  1. Yes, you can have canadian + US Amex Bonvoy card
  2. You can apply for a US AMEX Card as a resident of Canada without hassle as long as you have an address (there are many mail forwarders) , Bank Account (any US bank) and an Active Canadian American Express card that is atleast 90 days old - There are many guides on this by bloggers already . Keyword is Amex global transfer
  3. You Don't necessarily need an ITIN to apply for US Amex Card
  4. If you are completely new, prep work required for this is minimal & as long as you have a Canadian Amex card - all other requirements (like Bank Account, Address etc) can be managed with <30 days of prep work.

I think it's also worth to mention a $450USD annual fee (-$300 statement credit + 1 free night)
Save a lot but end up spending more

Very nice offer. I have been putting off getting into the US churning and had recently read about some new challenges in terms of getting itin etc.. 5000 USD is gonna be hard after me and wife both got the HSBC world elite cards.

So if we make purchase here in Canada do the charges show up on our bill in USD and also pay in usd? Do I end up paying extra in conversion fees for my canadian purchases?

Do you also receive elite night credits that stack with the Canadian 15?

If you mean 15 EQN - they don't stack with Can + USA cards

But if you get both US cards - they stack

If you have Platinum Elite would it extend and stack on top of 2021 status extending it to 2022?

No, Marriott dropped rollover capabilities a few years ago... and even then, CC status doesn't give you any nights other than the usual 15 credits. As in, you may be Plat, but if you want Titanium, you'd still need another 85 nights to re-reach that qual level (and $20k spend).

I hate that they do this... it devalues Plat for those who earned it the hard way!

I need just under 100 nights to get Lifetime Plat and qualified for the 10 years already..... wondering if it is worth it to get lifetime plat status.
