Great! So I am guessing shopping at the mall won’t count, rather we have to purchase the gift cards from Customer Service?

I wonder what else can be a ‘qualifying purchase’.
It’s simply a purchase of a gift card which you just use in the mall

I'm confused about this offer. Are we to buy a gift card or just spend at a store in the mall?
Purchase a gift card at the mall for the mall, then spend it at stores.

You get the $15 credit for making the gift card purchase

This gift card is basically a prepaid American Express credit card. I have a hunch it works at any retailer who accepts AMEX with the magnetic stripe.

Edit: Let’s verifying this by using the mall gift card on my own Square account
It doesn't, I've tried with a few retailers

Not anymore. There was a maintenance fee back when Ivanhoe was using Mastercard as their gift card processor. But since they switched to AMEX, there is no more maintenance fee.

It is a AMEX prepaid card, but it's been set up in such a way that AMEX will reject any transaction that doesn't originate from one of the participating merchants in the Ivanhoe malls.
If this is an AMEX prepaid card, can it be used to buy other gift cards? That would be fantastic!

Got on cobalt too, $15 statement credit per $100 up to 3 times.
Do we have to buy $100 cards separately or can we buy $300 at one shot and get $45?

I want to know this too.
You need to put each $100 purchase on its own transaction. Otherwise if you put $300 in a single transaction, you'd only get $15 for that transaction.

can you load the same GC multiple times so you don't end up with 3 $100 GCs?

For BC residents: You can use the gift card at London Drugs Insurance to pay for ICBC Autoplan (car insurance). I did it at Guildford.

felt very ripped off by Ivanhoe when i went to renew my GC to prevent the fees from starting. was told they switched to an entirely new system, that i was basically SOL, and that i have to spend all the money or wait for the fees to eat up all the money on the GC.

noone told me that i wouldn't have to opportunity to extend when i bought the GC 15 months earlier. bet they took in a lot of free money that way, esp with all the GCs that were purchased during Xmas 2018 that will come due soon...
