[ANA/United]: Business class tickets ($4,043) for Ottawa-Tokyo-Hong Kong-Ottawa

Deal Link:
$4000 is a lot of money, but it is a very good deal for a business class ticket from Canada to Tokyo and Hong Kong and return, with ANA and United. ANA is great and the review for United Polaris business class seems to be very good as well. Prices may vary with dates. $3,820 for Toronto. It is almost the same price as the premium economy ticket to Hong Kong alone.

ANA is great but except for the one short Asia hop it's all on United not ANA. Not nearly the same experience even if this route had the Polaris seats (many don't and though I'm not 100% sure, I don't believe this one does?).

The one Polaris lounge is in ORD so there's that at least.

Do people who buy $4,000 Business class plane tickets hang around a site like RFD?

Tokyo... HK... United. I remember what happened the last time an Asian person got on a United flight.
Yes, no Asian has flown United since that day

No, the Polaris hard product (777-300ER planes) does not fly out of ORD yet.... ironic with it being the first Polaris lounge. However SFO and EWR are now open - and the ORD Polaris will be expanded in the next few months. Polaris has been bungled since day 1, but yes, the lounges are amazing. Full course meals for free? I always enjoy visiting the ORD lounge, especially since it's the only lounges United is keeping showers in.

The Polaris soft product still isn't too bad, as long as you don't get a 2-4-2 seating plan. I've done NRT-ORD, and as the flight is over 12 hours you can get PJ's - also make sure you ask for bedding (a mattress pad) and the gel pillows, as they no longer volunteer them or list them on the Polaris menus now.

$4K is high, but I did buy a $2800 CAD BOS-IAH-EWR-BOM // BOM-EWR-ORD-BOS business ticket, to net me over 44K PQMs.

If it is reimbursed, why hunt for deals?

Reimbursed does not mean "pay whatever it costs", usually we have to work within certain financial or other thresholds to justify business over economy.
