You don't need any security software on any computer if you know what you are doing.

No security software required unless you want to show down your phone and increase power usage. No security blanket replaces safe practices. Install trusted apps, stay away from doubtful links.

If you use the Google play store to get your programs, you do not need any security software. Unless you mess with the settings, by default, you can only run programs from the Google play store and no where else.

If your y300 is running like sludge, and I am sure it is, change the launcher, the launcher that comes with the Y300 is horrid, use something like nova launcher and your y300 will be usable again.
