“Better” depends on what your priorities are. But there are some websites that compare these platforms... maybe not exact comparisons and maybe not with your specific priorities, but probably enough to help you decide for yourself.

For example,

Was looking to get a DS718+, is the DS218+ that much of a step down from it?

Thanks for the response.

After hours research, I might stick to the TS-251A and after 2-3 years upgrade to TS-453BT3! This TS-453BT3 is perfect but it's so expensive!

I got the QNAP 431P from Memory Express today for $299, with a WD red 2T ($109) and two 4T ($159). I needed the 2T for a failed drive in my other QNAP, and am gonna start with the 2 drives in the new one for cost mitigation. Will fill the other slots later. I got it at the Richmond site.

I bought this one last year for this price at Canada Computers.. I'm currently using it as a Plex Media Server and NVR with 2 IP Cameras recording 24/7 .. No issues at all.. I also upgraded the memory to 16GB, even though it says max is 8GB. 2x G.Skill 8GB Modules.
