Based on last year's disappointing Boxing Day offerings, if you don't buy this today, you will kick yourself and throw in a few punches too...

With the Canadian dollar tanking there won't be many good deals this Christmas. Might as well pull the trigger now.

Thanks for the reply both HotYaris and mrweather.

So you both believe that this is the best deal going on a Dell computer with similar hardware?

Just a couple questions,

I noticed that this set up only comes with Windows 10 operating system and no other software, would I be able to use my present Outlook 2010 etc software and transfer it over to the new pc. My present pc is running XP operating system.

Also I present have two monitors hooked up to my existing Dell XPS pc which I believe has the VGA ports, with the new Dell pc support dual monitors as well as be plug and play or will I need new cords, software etc.

As you can tell I'm not very pc savy.

Provided you have an installation disc/USB key of the software and product key, it shouldn't be a problem installing your Office 2010 on the new system.

Sorry, can't comment on the dual monitor setup.

Dell.com (US site) was selling an 8900 with i7, 8GB, and 1TB HDD for $650 not long ago (around $900 our money). Granted, that didn't have as much RAM or the SSD your prospect machine has but still those aren't worth all that much. 32GB SSD is clown shoes in this day and age and basically worth like $30, if that; >8GB of RAM is not necessary for most people, unless you have a specific reason to need more. I dunno if it's wise or unwise to "hold out" for something better but it seems it's not all that great a deal either.

Thanks for the reply mrweather and ES_Revenge

I'll try to locate the product key, if so than thanks for the info.

I haven't checked much on the Dell U.S. web sites due to the 40% exchange rates. Would I need to pick it up in the States (CBI) and pay the taxes and drive back or does Dell (U.S.) ship to my home without duty and brokerage fees? I believe the "Dell.com (US site) was selling an 8900 with i7, 8GB, and 1TB HDD for $650" was a better deal but now it's gone. My loss.

I pulled the trigger on this. I would recommend opening up a chat and ask a sales rep if you can get an additional discount. After going back and forth a bit, I was able to get an additional $100 off.

+1 on using the live chat and see if you can get a better deal.

if you go through dell.ca/mpp (press shop now and see if your organization qualifies). It gives you back $25 for your particular coupon (see the price in cart)

Don't forget to also Sign Up for the "BONUS COUPON OFFER: Get a coupon for an extra 5% off PCs and tablets when you sign up for member email deals with your work email address."

(you'll get a gift card back in a couple of months for 5% back)

Going through ebates will get you back 4% in cash (might not be combinable)

I don't think the deals will be any better on boxing day. You can always try to cancel it if it hasn't shipped yet.

I found a Coupon code for $75.00 off and tried it online and it worked, but I didn't follow through on the purchase yet. The code is $75OFF$1099PC which would bring it down to around $1225.00 + tax and there is no shipping charges. If this can be accomplished without a Dell Rep, then online chat should be able to better the price. If anything maybe add more warranty or antivirus/more software etc. What about phone in order?

As for "my company" that doesn't pertain to me so I can't use that format.

Thanks for keeping this thread alive as I'm still wondering if Boxing Day will give a better deal.

the last time I used the online chat to ask for a better price, I asked them to apply a coupon AFTER I negotiated a price. It was only a $25 coupon but they were still able to apply it on a $400 order.

Here is another deal which offers the Solid State Hard drive which is much faster than the traditional drive and since it's buisness class it offers much better warranty at a greater discount.
