You'll never find anyone using a rice cooker anywhere in the West Indies to begin with.
Power Outages,Electricity is too costly etc and the bottom line people with very sensitive taste will tell you the rice tastes better cooked in a pot.
It's actually cooked in a pot over an open fireside/outdoor on top of burning wood.
Always use a Cast Iron pot for cooking please.

So for the jewish guy pm'ing me no i'm not black aparently only black people live in the West Indies it seems and i'm not Muslim.

About rice some of the real bad quality rice can only be cooked in a rice cooker.
I learnt this the hard way this week.
Try it in a pot and it will either burn or come out very sappy.

I really suggest you change the title you'd probably get less answers to your question as it is right now.
