Any tips on how to score discount vacations during Christmas

Just seeing if people have any tips on how to score last minute discounted deals during christmas break. Typically the prices shoot up on christmas. Beyond looking at the websites like expedia, selloffvacations etc etc, any tips?

Travel out xmas day and back mid-week into the first week of January and pick a destination that isn’t super touristy.

Extremely unlike to score any discount for X-mas/NY travel. Prices always shoot way up for this time. Hotels/resorts are usually sold out. Many hotels/resorts require you to also buy their dinner package if stying NY eve.

If you want something, better to buy now, as the price will almost certainly rise. A family member forgot to buy flight tickets, and a month a go when he checked, the prices went up US$300. He had to bite.

Fly just after Christmas, or even better, start the vacation after New Years, if possible.

We’ve always found the best prices for Christmas travel as soon as they came out, in January or February, so 11 to 10 months before Christmas. Which doesn’t help you right now, but it may be something to keep in mind for next year.
