Any uniquely Canadian candies or chocolate treats?

An office mate wants to surprise her niece living overseas with some unique Canadian treats like candies, sweets, or chocolate.

Uncle/Aunt will be bringing them back over and the trip is half way across the globe.

Are there any other brands the come to mind besides Godiva for chocolate?

Many thanks.

Pure maple syrup. $12.50(ish) for a litre at Costco is way cheaper than the glass tourist bottles.

Coffee Crisp chocolate bars. And Crispy Crunch bars. And Aero. Apparently Wunderbar is Canadian. Mr. Big is not widely available outside Canada. Caramilk is Canadian but similar candy (ie Rollo) is sold elsewhere. Coffee Crisp is the big one.

Ketchup potato chips (yuck!) and Hickory Sticks.

Kraft Dinner is sold as such only in Canada (Kraft Macaroni & Cheese in other places).

+1 for Purdys. Their chocolate hedgehogs are the best.

I second and third the maple syrup. Nothing more quintessential Canadian than that.

We will visit a friend in Spain next week and will bring a couple of the following (currently on sale for $9.99)

http://www.loblaws.ca/en_CA/products/pr ... syrup.html

I know you can get more bang for your buck with the Costco jar but it is too big for us to bring and this Loblaws one has that all-important maple leaf that my friend can instantly identify with :)

I believe Smarties are widely available outside Canada - just not in the States.

If you're bringing 2 of the PC bottles, the Costco jug would actually be lighter. There is, though, something to be said for presentation :)

Maple sugar would be even easier to carry.

Just checked with the wife and we only need to bring 1 bottle. Yes you are right first impression is what counts :)

I was planning to visit Costco in Spain and see what products they have but we won't have time as there's only 1 in Seville and we will be in Barcelona.

My friends really enjoy the maple syrup jug that we brought over! I put it in the checked-in bag and surround it with clothing because it is more than 100ml for carry-on and it was fine.

I never had a chance to go to Costco in London, UK because it is located quite out of the way so I picked up a few British treats at Fortnum & Mason (and some Spanish treat at various spots in Barcelona) to bring home for family and friends here
