I have a tree in my front yard, its root clogs sew pip every few years,

depends on the size of the tree and the overall difficulty of the job.

I don't think pruning a tree will stop it's roots from clogging your pipes...

That's like saying getting a hair cut fixes IBS...

I've had 5 large silver maples trimmed by an arborist a couple of years ago and the costs were in the range of $3-5000. They're not even on my property, but in my neighbour's backyard but they are 80+ feet tall and overhang my backyard/house.

OP, you need to call someone like roto rooter to deal with roots in your piping, not an arborist.
