Seems like it would be ok if you don't mind moving an ext. HDD around from PC to the WD TV. Lack of networking, DTS downcoverting, or ability to run other applications (like Popcorn Hour does) could be a deal breaker for some.

Since it is fairly new, the level of support for firmware upgrades or from other users has yet to be determined, and may never really pan out.

But at about $150 (about 1/2 the cost of a PCH A-110), it may suit many people just fine.

Well, you can buy a NAS with the USB connection. You connect USB to WD TV and Ethernet to the Network :)

Oh god I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been amazing, flawless I can't say enough good things about it. The remote is insane, I can point it at the rear of my living room and it works at the ceiling and it works. I have no line of sight with the unit when I sit on the couch and the remote works flawlessly. Yes transferring files is a pain but that's what a netbook is for. I got mine from CC for $119 last week. With a used external drive from RFD this setup costs less than $200.

Yup, pretty cool... just that constantly attaching / detaching external drives seems like a bit of a pain. Wonder how well photos and music are handled?

Just curious, is this something I could hook up to my Rogers Pace 551 HD box & record shows that I might miss ???

Cause that looks like a much cheaper option then a DVR or PVR unit. :cheesygri

It's a media playback device only, it doesn't / can't record anything.
