Good find. Thanks OP but please kindly specify “refurbished” in the subject.

Unless you need the extra 128GB of storage, I'd spend the extra $80* for the new 2020 iPad Pro.

OP, please put "3rd gen" or "2018" model in title. The latest 4th gen is also called iPad Pro 11".

Actually the 2018 iPad Pro 11 is the "1st Gen" not the "3rd Gen".
The new 2020 iPad Pro 11 is the "2nd Gen".

Learn from my mistake OP, don’t post $200+ savings on Apple products, although if you got some $2 coupons for ice cream bars at No Frills hit me up.

But it's not $300+ savings:
2020 iPad Pro 11 256 = $1110.
This deal = $210 savings on an older and not brand new device.

That being said, I get your point for sure.

I actually picked one of these up the last time they were in stock, 0 regrets whatsoever. Same display, speakers, battery life and form factor as the 2020 model, nearly identical processor. Unless you really want the camera of the new model, this is a great deal. They will likely be supported for the same number of years given that the processors are almost identical.

I've been humming and hawing about picking up a Refurbed 2018 iPad Pro when they come available....but I've ultimately decided to do the following.

Buy a base 2020 iPad Pro (which starts at 128gb vs 64gb for the 2018) with the EDU pricing of $979 during Apple's "Back To School" event (which they throw in a pair of Beats usually).

I hope they will allow me to get PowerBeats Pro as my wife wants some for running. Her AirPods don't stay in her ears.

If she doesn't...I'll sell them in a sealed box for ~$200 and call it a day.

Last time this was posted it got a fairly warm reception. I think most of the down votes were from the poor title.

I still think this is a reasonable deal if you don't have access to legitimate education pricing. If you're comparing the 256GB models directly, the only real differences are the addition of an AR camera and enhanced mic. The performance boost from the added RAM and extra graphics core is supposed to be negligible. It's a new battery and only the internal components are "used" or returned.

Ya, I can see how it can get confusing ... it's a 3rd generation iPad Pro model... 11 is the size...

I'm also thinking of getting the refurbished iPad 11 but that back to school deal sounds really good, when does apple offer it? I'm guessing late August?

Last year it ran July 9 to Sept 26, 2019. You can see what was included HERE

Decent deal...was holding out for the 128gb 10.5 pros to become available, but to no luck. I'm figuring this deal is better than the 10.5 256gb + LTE for $809?

Two generation jump in processor (A10X vs. A12X) between the 2nd gen iPad Pro 10.5 vs. 3rd gen iPad Pro 11. The overall iPad dimensions are almost the same, yet because of the thinner bezel and no home button, the screen size is larger on the 3rd gen iPad Pro 11. Unless you have a specific need for LTE, the 2018 iPad Pro would be a better buy (if the prices are similar).

These are great but for future proofing just note that the 2018 model has 4gb RAM vs 6gb in the 2020.
(Only the 2018 1TB model does have 6gb)

Since I've not been to school in, oh...40+ years, how would I get "educational pricing"?

That’s fair! For my use case the 2GB didn’t make a huge difference, especially as this isn’t my main computer but I could see that being the case for someone else.

The trade off is basically 128GB and ~150$ for 2 extra GB of RAM, improved mic’s and a nicer camera.
