Just give access to the mic while using the app. Apple will make sure that's all it can do.

Oh dear. You'd best stop using your phone to call people then.

How accurate is this? I am getting a db rating of around 20 with this app using my MacBook but getting around double this figure using the Smart Tools app on my Android phone!

Strangely no option to allow mic permission only while using app so needs to be manually switched in settings therefore easy to forget mic is left open.

Sort of. I'm not arguing it's not an invasion of privacy, but if you disable/don't use iCloud Photos then you won't be included in this. They're also scanning for hash checks, not your actual photo content. Basically checking if you have CP content in your iCloud that matches known CP from the FBI's list of CP. To help stop redistribution of CP and likely trace it back to it's origins. Once again not arguing in favor of this method, just keeping the facts straight here before misinformation spreads.

How this came up here, on a post for a dB meter app, I'll never know, but that's on you lol.

if that's the result you are getting, it's absolute trash. there's no way any normal environment you are in would register as low as 20 dB

Rofl, wishful thinking at it's best

Anything in, and around your cell phone you can consider compromised.

Privacy in todays day and age is just a fantasy

All you can go on his what they're telling up front. Everything else you're just making assumptions on. The worst thing to ever leak about Apple and anything related to going against their privacy message is that they were using Siri audio recording to try and improve it's accuracy.

Everything else shows they're doing what they can to protect privacy. I'm not saying they're doing this altruistically or because they're nice, it's purely profit based, because they have no incentive to monitor your devices like Google who exists purely to profit off of user data. But Apple's profit comes from it's products mainly (with growing profit in services like iCloud).

Guy named zuckerberg telling me a super naive story about privacy in the modern age.

NSA budget alone is ~ $11B.

Companies making the chips that are in your phone, have been backdoored before it even gets manufactured. Companies don't need a reason to "monitor" your device, huge government agencies with classified budgets already do this for you.

WW3 is going to be fought in the cyberdomain, and it's already happening
