AI summary pretty much covers it.

I was waiting for the Mac mini. Wasn't really expecting it to be included as it hasn't been for a couple years, but you never know.

Worst thing is that I need the 32GB one, and a couple months ago Apple raised the prices on that upgrade by $200. So not only do I get no gift card or free accessory, I also pay $200 more dollars than a couple months ago. Bad decision to wait for this BTS promo! Really tempted to see if I can wait for the M5 Mac mini now...
RFD Summary
🎁 Many shoppers are disappointed this year, preferring the gift card bonuses of previous years over the included accessories like AirPods or Apple Pencils. Members found the resale value of the free items to be low.

🍎 This deal still offers Apple's education pricing, which is considered a good value for those new to the Apple ecosystem.

💻 Community members suggest alternatives like refurbished Apple products or purchases from Costco for a similar price, often with an extra year of warranty and cashback opportunities.

🚫 The Mac Mini is notably excluded from this promotion, a letdown for many who were hoping for a deal on that model.

Something like this one, you can draw you can write on iPad no problem.
Big but, if your daughter has higher standards, get the official ones with pressure sensors, it can control the strokes, which would be important for artists
REALLY appreciate all of the guidance/info from everyone. Another question, USB-C pen or the 1st gen pen. Which is better? I see that either will work with iPad 11.

The Mac mini was included last year and the year before. $140 gift card. However, they dropped the entry level price for the M4 Mac mini so I’m not surprised they didn’t include it this year.

It might but I’m not optimistic for it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mac mini skips M5 completely.

yep that's actually my assumption. My guess is they're going to update Mac mini and iMac only every 2 years. I don't think they sell enough to bother with yearly updates. And to be honest the M series chips are good enough they can do it. Just annoying if you really need a new computer to be getting one 18 months old...

looks like Apple is really having trouble selling their super overpriced accessories. though a lot of people saying the new iPad OS is good, to me it is just apple trying to sell their heavy, bulky and useless magic keyboard.

adding a heavy keyboard and carry it everyday with an iPad is the most useless thing, iPad is designed for casual work and entertainment. buy a mac instead if you are looking for using keyboard all the time.

The Magic Keyboard for my iPad Pro M4 is awesome. Best iPad keyboard out there hands down. But yeah it is very expensive.

Then don't get a heavy keyboard. Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Tightly-closed Eyes
I find an iPad with Pencil is much more flexible than a MacBook. Great for sketching ideas, notes and marking up PDFs. With the new iPadOS, it'll be even better.
I have an inexpensive Apple Folio case with keyboard that is very lightweight.
I have no need for an expensive Apple Magic Keyboard with track-pad, although there are decent cheaper knockoffs if you must.

Anyhow I just ordered the refurb M3 16/512 GB for $1329 from Apple. M3 16/256 is $1079.

I won’t get the extended credit card warranty though, since it’s a refurb.
Crap. Credit card won’t work on refurb??

I have a light weight bluetooth keyboard (logitech key-2-go) for causal use, what i mean is it is really pointless i have to carry this bulky and heavy keyboard with a slim and light iPad all the time. it conflicts with the design and purpose of the iPad.

more importantly, i can reuse my bluetooth keyboard if i decide to get a new ipad in future, but with magic keyboard, i have to buy another one for ipad if i am upgrading air to pro or from 11 to 13.

I knew that’s why I bought m4 Mac mini on the launch day , sold my 4 months old m2 mini for $520. I worried about CAD exchange rate going down , the m4 mini will go up this summer

Most don’t but some do if manufacturer refurbed. Check your credit card insurance fine print.

Type C with no pressure, 1st gen yes, but 1st gen has the lightning plug so you need the dongle to pair it(I believe it’s included in the box now).
It’s up to you which one to pick

Same. Looks like Apple just “schooled” RFDers on their over inflated expectations for BTS and reality going forward. Flushed Face
