BambooMonster wrote: Everything worked fine today when I traded in my iphone 6s plus. Received $250 TIV and picked up an XsMax 64GB. The specialist i dealt with indicated that the trade-in credit could be applied any device including ipad and iwatch contrary to what their advertisement says. My gf will go in tomorrow and trade in her iphone 6 for $150 towards the iwatch.

Looked up my SE and it's showing a trade-in value of $75.

I am guessing the XS has better specs than the XR, even though its a smaller screen?

Check your Koodo accounts for comparable deals.

It's $550 upfront then $360 (24x$15) - $150 bill credits = $760, and I'm still not biting. Yet.

The above is YMMV and does not account for taxes, but my main point is buying outright isn't always cheaper.

True... but I'm not loving the Koodo plans. I need unlimited minutes and at least 4gb of data.
Buying outright and going with Zoomer might be a better deal.

XS has oled screen and dual camera
Other specs are the mostly the same (memory and processor).

I don’t find that XS is worth it compared to XR.

I see this on Koodo too. I’m able to upgrade to a X at $760 and keep the existing $40/8GB plan. I figure this is an ok deal seeing that I don’t have to do a trade in and it’s slightly cheaper for me than going through Apple (trading in iPhone 6s).
Are you holding out for bigger credits/lower upfront?

I'm just assessing if the wife needs an upgrade right now or if it can wait until a few months. Just staggering the outflow of money during the holidays.

$760 is the right price. But for a few days in the past 2 months, there was an extra $50 off. If it returns, I'll bite. Else I'll wait just a bit longer.

Ottawa, Bayshore Apple Store - I traded in 2 x iPhone 6 16GB and didn't have any problem getting $150 each trade in (for a total of $300) off of one 64GB iPhone XR. The sales person did up 2 x $150 gift cards and applied them to the purchase. Probably could have got more private sales of the iPhone 6 - but the convenience right up front sold me. Going from iPhone 6 16GB to XR 64GB is a pretty good upgrade for me.

just curious, was the tax charged on the full price of the xr? or after the giftcards were applied?

better screen (higer res, OLED), more system memory, better camera, better waterproof rating, stainless steel vs aluminum, 3D touch
