I love all the downvotes in this thread, the constant "hate" on Apple.

All I know is this.

My 2012 MacMini runs 24/7, is never slow, is on the latest operating system and acts as if it did when it was brand new.

Same goes for my 2013 rMBP.........you get what you pay for, peeps.

Nowhere... but if you try and check out, you can clearly see the $280 promo card doesn't apply.
I read somewhere that Apple sends you the gift card via email a few days after you buy the Mac.
I better check that again.

Same here. My 2012 self-assembled Windows PC ran on latest OS and as fast as it were new. Unless you use a task-intensive task (video editing, hard gaming), most computers are as fast ... not just mac.

I've a 2011 Vaio running very well. Was able to replace the HDD with a 40$ SSD myself because it is not glued. Yes, it is an ugly laptop, but it works and it will do.

Sorry for the off topic comment.

I had 3 27" iMac and all crapped out after 4-5 years.

It's a desktop and gets used pretty much like a phone. I bought a $500 Asus laptop and no issues.

Like I said this company can't even give us $50 iTunes FFS.

I only want the new mini because I hate Windows. I guess I will settle for the $30 off student pricing.

If you buy it in store they give you a physical card on the spot.

I'm looking for a 13-inch MacBook Air with retina display (new model). Any cheaper options than education plan at $1439?

Thanks

I would have but nobody has what I need.
A 2017 MacBook Air (2018 doesn't have enough ports and dongles are a pain) with a 512GB SSD, preferably an i5 to save a few bucks since I don't need an i7
Checked Staples, Best Buy and Newegg - nobody sells MacBook Airs with a 512GB drive.

I don't know what people do now - I want to replace a 2011 MacBook pro which had all the ports I need including FW800 which I can't even get anymore, along with 26GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive.
I currently use about 330GB of the hard drive, so a 256GB hard drive doesn't really cut it. One option may be to move the files that or not used a lot to an SD card that is permanently plugged in - that way I could use a 256GB drive.

many of the people who were loyal Apple customers are frustrated with a lot of Apple's current offerings to replace their "classic" Apple hardware of the past. Very pro unfriendly assortment of products without a good upgradability, force to pay for features that are useless (touchbar), limited ports and removal of some great features (Magsafe), and keyboards that will crap out with specs of dust.

I only still use a lot of mobile Apple products because the competition is even more incompetent, trying to copy Apple but doing a poorer job of it.

Thanks OP. I got extremely lucky and was able to match this offer at Best Buy on Friday.

I had bought a 2018 MBP Touchbar from Best Buy a week ago by matching the student discount that Apple offers along with an extra $50 because of a mix up that I had with their custmer service. Went back on Friday to see if they would be able to match Apples offer with the gift card and to my surprise, they did! They refunded me $280 plus tax ($316 total). Ended up getting the 2018 MBP for $1939 after everything, so this was awesome.

So I've got the $280 e-gift card for buying a Macbook Pro.

Any ideas how to sell this thing? I did not realize initially I'd have this dang digital card - physical cards are easier to sell.

Yeah - meeting someone at the Apple store sounds like my nightmare. Ugh! I wish I had realized this. I could have dumped a physical card on Cardswap
