It's $449 for the 12.9" keyboard.

The keyboard costs more than the 10.2" iPad.

Nobody said you have to buy the magic keyboard. You can buy the Smart Keyboard. Which is similarly priced compared to the surface line up and almost any other current gen tablet really.

Magic Keyboard does something no other tablet keyboard does. So it charges more. It is that simple.

I bought my Apple Smart Keyboard for the 10.5" iPad Pro for $150 off Amazon. Then I got a refurb for my wife's 10.2" iPad 7 for $110.

But when I upgrade to the 11" iPad Pro with 5G, A14X, and hopefully mini-LED, I will likely buy that $399 Magic Keyboard to go with it.
