Before Christmas The Source had the Apple iPad Pro 10.5” 64GB - Wi-Fi - Space Grey for $789.99, $80 off of the regular price of $869.99
Here they're asking $879 for a refurb?
What am I missing?

You're looking at the model with cellular connectivity, which bumps the price up.

If you just want Wi-Fi with 64GB storage:

Looks like It's $739.00 for the 10.5' 64GB

Also just from my experience, apple refurb product just like new and you still have the 1 year warranty, not bad.
Personally If I can find a refurb apple product, I would not buy the brand new ones.

If anyone is in doubt, this is an amazing iPad - but make sure you can find a case that you like if you are using this as a laptop replacement. I handed the 9.7" Pro to a colleague and thought that I would just get the same case (Logitech Create). Logitech only makes some slim combo thing for the 10.5 and honestly it is very awkward (the create for the 9.7 was brilliant). The apple smart cover doesn't seem to give much in terms of protection, but seems far more comfortable, so those are really your two main choices.

Either way this is an amazing iPad; I use it to edit code, edit videos using Luma Fusion, and normal MS Office type stuff. Basically, I haven't picked up a laptop in awhile. Apart from a few weird web dev things, it pretty much does it all.

The smart cover is great (it's my daily driver). If you're worried about scratches and dings on the back combine it with a rear case like this: https://www.amazon.ca/iPad-Pro-10-5-Cas ... B073GZ2DN7

I do wish the smart cover came with an ESC key though...

I wonder is the official Smart cover at around 70$ is really worth vs. buying some other brand on amazon with the same type of cover or something combined at around 15$
something like:

generic smart cover with back type: https://www.amazon.ca/JETech-Cover-Slee ... +case+10.5

I just went from iPad 10.5 to the basic iPad 9.7 recently. Honestly if you are using it just for browsing and watching movies, it's very capable. It does lag sometimes when switching between apps, but i can't justify the few hundred difference on the 10.5, especially if you are using the iPhone X. It doesn't have face ID, full screen w/ OLED display and 3D touch. If Apple updates it's iPad this year with those features, I will definitely go back to the Pros.

Canada, Eh!!
If getting refurb ipad then suggest staying with apple store due to warranty and new battery.

Pls correct if wrong but I believe apple also quality tests refurbs vs only a handful of new builds so could look at getting a fully tested basically new ipad.

Or can get the Amzn fire 8 and 10 tablets like us!! Smiling Face With Open Mouth Got two of each all for less then price of ipad... BUT depends on what will use for so do understand better quality, dpi, ios for ipad.

Thanks, OP! I've been keeping my eye out for this, too.

Does anyone who has the cellular version have any thoughts/comments on how hey use it? I've got an older iPad that I usually just use my wifi hotspot on my phone for with my laptops, but never had a tablet with connectivity.

Thanks,
T

Good tablet. I picked one up at Target online (Dec 24 sale) for cross border in-store pick for 500 USD plus NY taxes ...worked out to be C$ 680ish all-in. Really fast even with iOS 11
