[Apple] Mac Mini 2023 - M2 - $669 education discount

Apple just announced new M2 MacBook Pro & Mac mini. The Mac mini is $799, but $669 on education discount. I think it's a pretty good deal for people with normal tasks:

You can order now, deliver showing Jan 24 at this moment.

Reason: fixed retailer field so it's better for searches

It's good to see a price reduction on Mac mini. The 2020 Mac mini (M1) started at $899 (regular pricing).

Meanwhile, there is a price increase on the MacBook Pro. The 2021 MacBook Pro started at $2,499 (14 inch) while this year's MacBook Pro started at $2,599 (14 inch). Both regular pricing.

I ordered my Mac mini today on the M2 Pro configuration because it's the only Mac mini configuration with HDMI 2.1.

I'm unfamiliar with their business practices, except for the exorbitant amounts they charge for memory and storage. I think ECC ram is cheaper than this. Not for the poor for sure...

I'll grab this when I graduate for dev work (can program across all OS). Or can I just do that with Unix?

Refurb M1 base models were $759 plus tax. This is like the first time Apple has ever dropped the price on anything, bad economic omen incoming Face With Tears Of Joy

Tried to trade in my 10 month old Mac Mini M1 and was offered $90 ?
Some sellers are still selling M1 version for $899.
Got to be an error or is that what Apple trades are like ?
Big depreciation.

They usually don't discount the Mac mini this much for educational pricing. From memory, it was around $30 for M1 entry model ($865 or so).

I'm surprised at the rate of discount for education on this one. Not bad at all

M2 pro is still expensive at $1569, the regular M2 Mac mini is definitely great bung for the buck, just the 8g ram and monitor support a bit lacking

I am still crying that I bought a 2019 27 iMac without knowing Apple silicon coming, the iMac has maintained its price quite well until I bought it, like it is worth nothing now after M1 Mac is out

If they made it upgradable like the old ones, there wouldn't be arguments.

$669 for a M2 Mac Mini is a steal, but I wouldn't buy one until they update the chassis.

The design is 12+ years old and there's so much wasted space internally. It could be a lot smaller if it was redesigned and fit the "mini" name much better, currently its the same size as the Studio except for the height.

499$ in the US !! These are going to be everywhere.

(on another note, their laptop prices are ridiculous. over 100% increase in price in the last 10 years for the same models)

Won't be updated anytime soon.
