M1 MacBook Air blows this out of the water. Either get M1 new or wait for M1 refurb sales Intel is a bad investment for the future on Apple.

Rather get the refurbished M1 Air. Seems like a better deal.

Agree, M1 is better. But, You will not get the M1 for that price.

There's a reason for $435 discount, generally it's $100-150. Avoid Intel.

M1 Air is $1169 on the education store and $1099 refurbished.

Even at the MSRP of $1299, the M1 Air is better than this.
Brown ahead for Bure. Bure going in.. he scores! Pavel Bure has won it for the Vancouver Canucks! It's a triple overtime hat-trick for Vancouver!

The base MacBook Air is essentially exactly that price on the education store - $1169 (which anyone can use). Same storage/ram etc. Really a no-brainer unless you *really* need the ports or Windows/VMs support on the Intel Macbook Pro. Especially now that we see the M1 chip is in everything, it'll have a much longer life than anything Intel that Apple sells.

Get the M1 version. Got one recently and it's been amazing. It runs cool even watching youtube.

Parallels on M1 with Windows 10 ARM also works amazingly well now.

Avoid Intel? Apple made great products with Intel chip since 2006 and now it has to be avoided? Laughing...

M1 is for sure great but this MBP pricing is solid...

Intel hit peak 2006-2015, since Skylake (6th Gen) Intel has become a laughing stock. MacBooks from 2016-2019 were some of the worst! plagued by overheating and bad keyboards.

Intel Macbook are loud. My Macbook Pro 16 inch has the top of the line cooling system and it gets loud really easily. Once, in a phone call with via my Macbook, a coworker asked me if I was outdoor because the fan was spinning so hard and all I have done was using InDesign with a 2nd monitor.

It's too late for me now, save yourself, get a M1 Macbook Air.

Brand new 2021 M1 for $1169 vs Refurbished 2020 i5 for $1194. I would advise everybody here against choosing the older, significantly slower, used laptop.

Because you can get an M1 laptop for the same price, the pricing isn't 'solid'.

This isn't an Intel vs M1 thing. At the same price, the M1 is better in almost every way than the Intel processors offered by Apple. There is no way around that. Why would you pay the same money for less?
